Dietetics is the science and art of food based on the principles of nutrition. It is also called "the science and art of nutritional care". Diet plays an important role in enhancing a person's health and well-being. Dietetics is related to food management and nutrition is associated with health enhancement.

The dietitian has to do the following

• Planning food and nutrition programs.
• Supervising the arrangement of food in schools and hospitals.
• Suggest dietary changes.
• Working with other health care practitioners to awaken multi-disciplinary health care thinking.
• To be active in patient care by giving the patient nutritional status as a physiologist.

According to the body-mass index based on body weight and measurement, a person's diet chart is made to determine the amount of fat, carbohydrate and protein required daily for the body.

Eligibility:-

The basic minimum eligibility is a X and XII qualification from a recognized educational Board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the main subjects at the intermediate level, with a minimum aggregate score of 50%.

Some universities/ colleges also accept Botany/ Zoology/ Computer Science/ Biochemistry instead of Biology as one of the main subjects studied in class XII.

Admission Process:-

In some colleges and institutes, admission to the course is based on the performance of the candidate in the relevant entrance examination conducted by the respective university.

However, in some other colleges / institutes, admission to the syllabus is based on the candidate's marks in the qualifying examination. After this, a merit list is prepared, on the basis of which seats are allocated to the shortlisted candidates.
